The Bee's Knees

We recently noticed a swarm of honey bee's arriving to one of the trees in Wesley Road. One of our neighbours rang a local bee keeping association and they sent several bee keepers down to lure the swarm into their box and to take them off to more suitable location where they can settle down and make honey to their hearts content. They estimated that the swarm consisted of nearly 20,000 bees.

The luring of the bees consisted of a large cardboard box (with secret nectar stash), ladders, protective suits, smoke, and lots of patience. The whole operation took just over an hour. Click on the post headline to find out more about Epping Forest Beekeepers.
